A host of emerging technologies, for both consumer and enterprise, have been rattling the information technology world, especially when it comes to IT decision makers. Cloud computing, increased need for data management, and the introduction of personal mobile devices used to perform business operations are just some of the changes that have had IT managers, in particular, on their toes for the last decade. But now, even aside from the technologies that are reshaping IT operations, economic fluctuation is taking its toll. The International Data Corporation this week said that there will be a “major slowdown” in global IT spending as a result of global economic instability and weakness in emerging markets.
The IDC reported: “Total IT spending on hardware, software and services will reach $2.3 trillion in 2016. Including telecom services, total ICT spending will increase by 2% to $3.8 trillion.”…
