French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday appealed to the European Union leaders to stay united and tough against Theresa May’s approach to cherry-pick the elements of the bloc membership.

Macron’s remarks follow British Prime Minister Theresa May’s address to the EU leaders in Salzburg, where she demanded compromises from the bloc on issues of hard border on the island of Ireland and the shape of a future trade deal, notes The Guardian.

A section of EU leaders isn’t averse to compromises from both sides, but France remains adamant on extracting from Britain a detailed outline of its future relationship with the bloc to approve a Brexit deal, notes The Independent.
