U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton on Monday gave a stinging reprimand to the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing the “freewheeling” organization of governing people without their consent.
The U.S., a fervent critic of the ICC, has vowed countermeasures, including sanctions, as the war crime court considers prosecuting American troops for alleged detainee abuse in Afghanistan, writes the BBC.
The dressing down by Bolton follows the U.S. decision to shut down the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) office in Washington over the Palestinian move to drag Israel to ICC over alleged human rights abuses in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, reports The Independent.
