U.S. President Donald Trump warned Tehran of unprecedented “consequences” after his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani said in an interview that hostile policies against his country could lead to “the mother of all wars.”

Trump’s twitter outburst, in capital letters, has all the earmarks of his earlier rhetoric against N. Korean leader Kim Jong-un, which eventually matured into diplomatic talks, notes the BBC.

Earlier, Rouhani lashed out at the U.S. attempts to isolate Tehran by throttling its oil exports, reminding Washington of Iran’s dominance in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, a major oil shipping waterway, reports Reuters.
