U.S. President Donald Trump showered praise on North Korean leader Kim Jong-un after “honest, direct and productive talks” that concluded with the two leaders signing a joint agreement in Singapore summit on Tuesday.

The N. Korean leader pledged his “unwavering commitment” to the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula while Trump promised security guarantees to the Asian state, notes the BBC.

Analysts, however, describe the summit more symbolic than yielding anything tangible as the agreement fails to mention crippling sanctions on Pyongyang and makes no reference to prospects of any eventual peace treaty, reports Reuters.
