Spanish police briefly detained Bill Browder, a British businessman and fierce critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, on an Interpol arrest warrant from Moscow, only to release him just hours later on Wednesday.
Browder took to Twitter accusing Moscow of abusing Interpol for the sixth time in his case, adding that the Spanish authorities opted not to honor the Russian red notice, writes The Guardian.
The authoritarian leaders using Interpol red notices as tools to muzzle their critics is a trend that has sparked concern in Europe, reports The Telegraph.
