The Whitney Museum is hosting an exhibition, entitled “Between the Waters,” which explores the distressed relationship between land and people via paintings, videos, and sculptures from artists from across the United States.

The artists attempt to portray the impact of technology, industry and architecture on the living world in adherence to facts and histories but using emotion, intuition, spirituality, and myth as tools instead of documentary style, notes Whitney Museum of American Art.

The diverse themes, ranging from colonialism to indiscriminate development, presented with a “personal, spiritual, mythical and fictional” spirit, narrate stories that are often missed by museums and institutions, writes Earther.
