Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei is working on artificial intelligence software that will be able to detect a user’s mood and respond accordingly instead of dishing out mechanical, template-based answers like the current generation of digital voice assistants.
The idea, inspired by the sci-fi film “Her,” would require the software to pick emotional cues from the user’s facial expressions, voice intonation and behavioral patterns, notes Business Recorder.
An AI system with emotional quotient would understand the context of conversations keeping it running as long as possible, serving as an emotional companion to users, reports CNBC.
