Doctors at Boston Children’s Hospital are using virtual reality system, called HealthVoyager GI, which takes patients on a unique journey into their own gut helping them visualize and understand what’s wrong and how it will be fixed.

Once the procedures, like colonoscopy, examine the digestive tract, the recordings are rendered in a true-to-life version recreation, writes New Scientist.

One of the benefits of such 3D-imagery is that it cuts short the surgical time as surgeons are aware of what to expect, and also the surgical recovery is swift, notes Stat News.
