N. Korea seeks to “vigorously advance” ties with the South

In a historic meeting with a 10-member South Korean delegation visiting Pyongyang on Monday, the North’s leader Kim Jong-un said he wants to “vigorously advance” the inter-Korean ties and “write a new history of national reunification.”

South Korea remarked that the two sides reached a “satisfactory agreement” on holding future talks while a “cautiously optimistic” U.S. dismissed any formal talks unless the North gives up its nuclear and missile programs, writes the BBC.

The meeting comes amid a backdrop of thawing relations between the two Korean nations following the Winter Olympics although no specific date has been set for the South’s leader President Moon Jae In to visit Pyongyang, notes The Guardian.
