Internet giant Google is testing out a hyperlocal news app, called Bulletin, which works like a “scaled-down content management system” letting users from the community to upload photos, video clips and text about a local happening directly to the web.

The app, launched in Nashville, Tennessee and Oakland, California, allows users to update their posts in real time at the stories develop, notes Business Standard.

Google’s new app seeks to solve a problem created by the company itself, writes Fast Company. With bigwigs like Google and Facebook predating over the local media, including blogs and newspapers, “Bulletin” apparently wants to fill the void developed with local outlets falling out of favor.
