Google is updating its Flights feature to predict flight delays even before airlines come up with alerts, a capability attributed to the tech giant’s machine learning system that sifts through historic flight status and flags them on 80 percent probability of holdups.

Machine learning algorithms open up new avenues in predictive technologies as they can learn to make forecasts and take decisions based on the analysis of patterns in a set of rapidly changing data, writes Futurism.

Google is also packing Flights app with another feature that clearly dissects the “basic economy” amenities provided by different airlines, thus helping travelers be aware of their flying perks, notes The Verge.
