Hitachi has developed an Artificial intelligence system that can follow an individual through crowd, a technology that the company claims can be employed to flag suspicious behavior at public places.
The system, designed for use in surveillance and security apparatus at airports, identifies people on over hundreds of traits, including gender, clothing, gait, hairstyle, etc., as it follows them in crowd, writes Fanatical Futurist.
The software, due to be available to corporate customers within about a year, has sparked concerns that it could interfere with one’s right to privacy in public space while opening doors to profiling, notes Quartz.
