Meet the Fashion student who grows own clothes

Liberty University student Luis Quijano is busy blending fashion, microbiology and mechanical engineering to grow his own range of sustainable and durable fabrics.

Inspired by an abstract idea from fashion designer Suzanne Lee, Quijano uses fermented water, sugar, green tea, and kombucha to produce a leather-like material suited for a range of fashion applications, writes Green Matters.

The consumerism out of fashion industry accounts for a hefty share of pollution and waste generation, the issues that can be fixed by an alternate approach like the one by Quijano.
