The trail of death and destruction from Hurricane Harvey continues to jolt Houston, with its latest victim being the Arkema chemical plant at Crosby, where two blasts were reported as the flooded complex could no longer refrigerate certain compounds.

The authorities had proactively established an evacuation zone 1.5 miles away from the plant after the company, operating the facility, had warned of the possibility of blasts, notes the BBC.

Tropical Depression Harvey, which has claimed 35 lives and displaced about 32,000 people, weakened as it moved inland over Louisiana on Thursday, writes Reuters.
