Toronto-based startup, Sonnet Labs, has developed a new gadget that lets smartphone users share text messages, photos and GPS coordinates from places without any cellular signal or wireless network.
The gizmo attaches to the user’s clothes or backpack and relies on long-range radio frequency bandwidth to essentially turn the smartphone into a two-way radio system that has range of over several miles, writes Seeker.
The firm, currently in the process of raising $17,000 through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, plans to begin shipping by the year end with one unit priced at $45, notes Yahoo Philippines.
