The Kremlin on Wednesday dismissed the unsubstantiated reports, which claimed that Russian agencies assembled a file of “compromising” information on U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. Describing the allegations as “pulp fiction,” the Kremlin spokesman said the reports were clearly an attempt to damage bilateral relations.

Earlier, unverified reports claimed that Russia has a dossier about Trump involving prostitutes and that his presidential campaign had secret ties with Moscow, reports the BBC. The stories prompted a stinging response from Trump, who tweeted, “FAKE NEWS - A TOTAL POLITICAL WITCH HUNT!”

The documents, published on BuzzFeed on Tuesday, were originally drawn up by a former western counter-intelligence official, and then passed by Senator John McCain to F.B.I. director, James Comey, writes The Guardian.
