Seattle-based tech startup, Coros, has unveiled a smart cycling helmet that features bone-conduction technology, allowing the cyclists to enjoy music, access navigation instructions and take phone calls without plugging ear buds or using Bluetooth headsets.
In the Linx Smart Cycling Helmet, sound waves are transformed into vibrations, which are then delivered into the wearer’s inner ear through the upper cheekbones, thereby keeping the ear canal and ear drum open for sounds of the environment, writes Entrepreneur India.
The innovative product may be a good option for cyclists in a number of U.S. states that restrict or ban the use of ear buds or Bluetooth headsets while cycling. The helmet, priced at $200, wirelessly connects to iOS and Android handsets and can detect a crash incident and call for help, notes Digital Trends.
