An emotional Oscar Pistorius has told his murder trial that he suffers nightmares over the killing of his girlfriend last year. In a trembling voice, he began his evidence with an apology to Reeva Steenkamp's family, saying he was "simply trying to protect" her. Prosecutors say the Paralympic athlete killed Ms Steenkamp in February 2013 after an argument. He denies shooting her deliberately, saying he mistook her for an intruder.
