Thousands of demonstrators faced off with riot police in Ankara, demanding a recount of ballots from local elections this weekend. Prime Minister Recep Erdogan's ruling AKP party swept the ballot, despite the corruption scandals plaguing the premier. The official results have yet to be released but Turkish media are estimating that the AKP won around 44% of votes nationwide.
