Methane microbes caused mass extinction

252 million years ago, 90% of Earth's species were wiped out an a mass extinction scientists have only been able to explain thus far with volcanic activity. But a new theory includes the explosion of a microbe in the ocean that produced so much methane, Earth's species could not adapt quickly enough.
