Andre Prinsloo and Ruhan Janse van Vuuren, tasked with sculpting a commemorative bronze statue of the deceased South African President Nelson Mandela, carved a rabbit in his ear after being denied permission to add their signatures to the work. The flare-up around the statue hints at the raw wound Mandela's death left -- as well as the troubled place his party finds itself in.
