The theory was included in Charles Darwin's research conducted about the Galapagos Islands: That island animals are more likely to be tamed easily because of the less severe presence of predators. Part of Darwin's evolutionary work also included the generally-accepted theory that animals will adapt to their environment over generations. Scientists observed lizards, and concluded that flight initiation distance is reduced on islands.
