The New York Knicks handled the Miami Heat at home Thursday, beating the defending champions 102-92. Last season the Heat and the Knicks were the top two seeds in the Eastern Conference, respectively. This season the Knicks are nine games under .500 and will struggle all season just to claw their way into the playoffs. The Heat, on the other hand, are 27-9 and only trail the Indian Pacers in the East. However, the Knicks, led by Carmelo Anthony's 29 points and 19 points from Andrea Bargnani, were able to top Miami at home. This has given hope to Knicks fans that they are a new team in the New Year.
