
1914 vintage champagne sells for more than $8,000

A two-bottle lot of Moet & Chandon champagne sold at Sotheby’s in London for a higher than expected £10,340 ($16,620) as part of 270-bottle collection marking the champagne house’s 270th anniversary. The lots, which spanned the years from World War 1 to 2004 and came from Moet & Chandon’s cellars, realized £147,333. Sotheby's raised $1.4 million from its two-day auction of rare and fine wines.
