U.S. industrial output jumps deceptively

U.S. industrial production rose 0.6% in September after increasing 0.4% in August, the Federal Reserve said. The increase was the largest in seven months. Utilities output surged after several months of declines, but manufacturing showed signs of cooling, suggesting factories eased off on production during the budget battle that partially closed the federal government.
