A 13% half-yearly increase in sales has made Lego the world's second largest toymaker by sales after the U.S.'s Mattel. The privately-held Danish maker of interlocking plastic bricks surpassed Hasbro when it reported an 18% increase in profit to $550 million on sales of $1.8 billion for the six months to June. Slow sales in Europe and the U.S. were offset by a 35% increase in Asia. The company is due to break ground next year on its first factory in China.
