BMW to recall 143,000 vehicles in China

German automaker BMW is recalling 143,000 of its Series 5 model built in China at its joint venture with Chinese carmaker Brilliance Auto. Chinese authorities ordered the recall because of reported problems with the vehicles' power steering. Last month, the joint venture was refused permission on environmental grounds to expand one of its two factories making its best selling Chinese model.
