Nielsen to digitize ratings

Nielsen, the television ratings company, is launching a tool that tracks the viewership of online television shows. Television programming companies will most likely use the ratings system to track viewers of their online websites such as Hulu. The measuring will be done in traditional online metrics such as unique visitors and pageviews. The tool will divulge information about viewers such as age and gender.
