Rwanda's growing economy, adopts austerity measures

Rwanda is predicted to be one of the top 10 fastest-growing economies in the world this year but the country has been hit hard. First came the suspension of foreign aid the country receives from some major development partners, under claims that Rwanda has been helping M23 rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo. More recently, public institutions have been asked to suspend hiring of government workers, seen by economists as part of the government’s wider austerity measures to tackle its budget deficit.
