Tata Motors is considering setting up a car making plant in Saudi Arabia for its Jaguar Land Rover division. The Indian company has signed a letter of intent with the country's government and will now undertake a feasibility study. Tata Motors already makes vehicles in the U.K. and China as well as India. Jaguar's XJ model and the new Range Rover use aluminum bodies. The world's largest integrated aluminum smelting plant, a joint venture between the Saudi Arabian Mining Company and Alcoa of the U.S., is due to come on stream in 2014 with the promise of producing the world's cheapest aluminum. Tata would also get improved access to the fast growing markets for luxury cars in the Middle East.
