U.S. President Donald Trump, who has a history of veering off the civil discourse in reprimanding his political opponents, ironically attacked the media “hostility” after suspected bombs were mailed to high-profile U.S. figures, including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Addressing a night rally in Wisconsin, Trump asked the media to stop “constant negative and oftentimes false attacks and stories,” drawing swift retort from critics, who called out the president’s hypocrisy in lecturing the others while he insistently desecrates his rivals and the press with vicious language, notes the BBC.

John Brennan, former CIA director and a fierce critic of the president, also targeted by the attempted bombing, said Trump’s rhetoric fuels feelings and sentiments that are now “bleeding over into acts of violence,” notes The Guardian.
