U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday called Saudi Arabia’s attempt to conceal the truth over the murder of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi as “the worst cover-up ever,” adding that Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman could have been involved in the gruesome act.

Trump’s comments mark an apparent shift in his stance towards an important ally Saudi Arabia, after his initial inclination and eagerness to humbly accept the kingdom’s denials of involvement, notes The Guardian.

With all eyes set on how Washington reacts to the barbaric crime evidently authorized by Riyadh, America’s strategic partner in the Gulf region, the U.S. announced it will revoke the visas of 21 identified suspects and consider imposing sanctions on those involved, reports the BBC.
