In an amazing discovery, astronomers at the Ohio State University in Columbus have found a giant planet that’s hotter than most known stars with its temperature soaring to 7,800 Fahrenheit, which is just 2000 degrees short of our sun’s temperature.

Named KELT-9b, the planet is revolving around its host star and continually shedding its mass due to evaporation at such sizzling temperature, writes Digital Trends.

The researchers plan to characterize the properties of this planet, which could unravel several mysteries related to how different planets form and perish in the universe, notes Astronomy.
